GBA Travel Baseball "Town Hall" Meeting and Travel Reg
Do you have an in-house player who is ready for higher level competition providing them with an increased opportunity to further develop their baseball knowledge and skills? If so, it is a great time to make the natural progression to play GBA Travel Baseball. The GBA travel teams (9u-14U) have many success stories through the years – just scroll through the homepage and you will see all the pictures of tournament wins this year. Travel baseball is a great way to take your player to the next level.
There are many misconceptions about travel baseball with the main concern being time commitment. What if I told you that most travel baseball teams only play on average 5-10 more games per season than a player playing both in-house and the IHTT (In-House Tournament Team). A typical travel team will play between 4-6 tournaments per season with most teams playing mainly local Chicago suburb tournaments and possibly one out of town tournament. It is common to have some weekends off during the season, which doesn't always happen with in-house teams. Also, players have the opportunity to work on their games earlier in the year with winter training facilities available to each team. Yes, the sessions start in January and most managers make attendance optional until the basketball season concludes sometime in February.
Travel baseball is a great experience and is the logical next step for any player wanting to improve their game. Once a player participates in travel baseball, you will wonder why you didn't sign them up sooner!. Also, we invite all who are interested in learning more about our travel program to a “Travel Town Meeting” this Monday, July 20th from 7pm-10pm in the lower level of Old Towne Pub & Grill. We will hold three 1 hour sessions beginning at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.
Don’t miss the opportunity to speak with GBA Commissioner Dan McGarry and myself to learn more about GBA Travel Baseball.
And remember that GBA Travel Tryouts for the 2016 Season will take place on August 8-9 at the Geneva High School Baseball Diamonds. Go to the registration page on the GBA website and register to tryout. There is no cost and if you will have a conflict with that weekend, we encourage you to register anyways, as arrangements for a separate tryout can be accommodated.
Hope to see you this Monday!
Thank you for taking part in the 25th Anniversary GBA Spring Baseball Season. A lot of planning goes on behind the scenes to make sure your players have the best experience possible. If you had a player on a spring In-House team, please follow the link below and tell us how we are doing. The survey helps to let us know what we are doing right, and what we need to improve upon. Then we can take action to improve and provide another 25 years of youth baseball in community.
Congratulations to the 12U IHTT for a Strong Season
Congratulations to the 12U IHTT for taking 2nd place last weekend at the Lake in the Hills Tournament. The 12U team had a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place finish in different tournaments this year. Great job! Way to finish the season strong!
